A The event will continue as sheltered areas will be provided, however we do recommend you bring wet weather gear. Q What happens if you have to cancel the event? A Another date will be provided, and the sponsorship money will be held in an Escrow account until the event is run. Q What happens if we need to contact you urgently on the day? A Call David 's mobile:07836 322166 Q How much time will I spend actually driving? A At least 2 hours if you want to drive 12 vehicles, less if you want to be selective.Q Will we need special clothing/wellingtons/footwear? A Sensible clothing is required as climbing in and out of military or agricultural vehicles is not always easy, and steam engines can be very dirty! Additional wet weather gear is a good idea in case of a change in the weather.Q What catering arrangements will there be? A A lunch time meal will be available for a small charge, plus there will be mobile caterers on site.Q Will there be a bar? A Naturally, where driving is concerned there will be no bar; however plenty of soft drinks and hot drinks will be available. Q Are there enough decent WC's? A Yes Q How will the sponsorship money be used? A The money will be donated to the CLIC Sargent Charity Reg No: 1107328 Q Is £100 sponsorship per person or per couple? A The minimum is £100 per person, however the more you raise the more likely you are to fly. Q If I raise £100, will I be able to choose to drive all the vehicles in my group? A YesQ Is there a link between the amount of sponsorship I raise and the vehicles I drive? A No, but it will be only the top 5 individual fundraisers who get to fly. Q What will I drive? A The choice will be surprising. The vehicles will be themed and you will be able to go from "the Farmyard" to "Heavy Goods Vehicles" to "Military" to "off-road" and so on.Q What are the insurance arrangements? A Both the airfield and the event is covered by Public Liability Insurance, plus the individual vehicles will be covered by their owners, and copies of those insurance policies will be lodged with our insurers.Q Do I need a full driving licence? A Yes.Q If I have points on my licence is this a problem? A Depending on the number, and the offences that the points were received for, you will be assessed at time of registration.Q Is there a minimum/maximum age limit? A Minimum age is 18, no maximum as long as you have a full current licence.Q How easy is it to find you? A Henstridge airfield is just off the A30 between Sherborne and Shaftesbury. However, once you have handed in your sponsorship you will be sent a map and your points card.Q Are there any restrictions? A Henstridge airfield is a working airfield and therefore safety briefings will be part of the day. There will be a health and safety officer on site and there will be designated areas for smoking, waiting and parking.Q Can I bring my children/granny/dogs? A Spectators will be welcome, up to a maximum of 4 per couple, which includes children. No pets are allowed.Q Will it be good spectator sport? A It should be fun watching your friend or relative drive a combine harvester or reverse a HGV lorry, and even better fun to participate. Q Why are all these events organised in the south-west? What about the rest of the country? A If this is successful it will be rolled out nationally with a view to raising over £500,000 per year for the charity. Return to top |
